Van Wees Waalwijk likes to give pearls the chance to grow on

Van Wees Waalwijk

Many industrial companies want to automate their production processes and are looking for special machines to do so. Van Wees Waalwijk develops these customer-specific machines, which often offer a solution for unique situations and problems. Moreover, the company gives young employees the opportunity to further develop themselves into flexible, all-round technical professionals.

the pearls of our company

'We have a good cooperation with several educational institutions in secondary and high school,' says John Labee of Van Wees Waalwijk. 'Many students come in here and see a 3D animation on a screen. A product is then made from that in our factory. When they have experienced that process, they are often immediately sold. We find it especially important that people like to work with their hands, are creative and have an affinity with technology. These are the pearls of our company. Within Van Wees Waalwijk we have a number of them walking around'.

Eager to learn

Tim Paerels (30) from Kaatsheuvel is one such craftsman. 'After an internship, I started working at Van Wees Waalwijk in 2008 as a BBL student,' Tim says. 'In recent years, I have taken various courses through the company, such as training to become a construction sheet metal worker, training in mechatronics, electrical switching, malfunction technician and TIG welding levels 1, 2, 3 and 4.

I am very eager to learn and find many things interesting. That's why I'm glad that at Van Wees Waalwijk I get the chance to develop broadly.' The all-rounder also already knows what he would like to learn in the future. 'I would like to take another internal course to become a conventional turner. The idea is that one of the other experienced turners will teach me. I would also like to continue working with my hands in the future and I would like to supervise trainees within the company and teach them the finer points of the trade. After all, that's how I started here myself.'

Broadly trained employees

According to John Labee, broadly trained employees like Tim Paerels provide great flexibility in Van Wees Waalwijk's team, which consists of some 40 employees. 'We have a nice mix of young guys and older experienced employees. In addition, everyone gets the chance to follow professional training and learn new things. That offers even more advantages, because most of our employees can be deployed in various places in our organization. If a mechanic is absent, his place can easily be filled by someone else. This also provides the necessary variety in the work.

Good communication

He also cites the good communication between the employees in the business office and the professionals in production and assembly as an important success factor for the company. 'The machines and parts we make here are different every time. So we are constantly inventing new things. That is why it is important that people consult each other regularly and dare to ask each other for advice. That way our employees are constantly lifting each other to a higher level.'
